This post is part of a Blog Hop created by Brigitte Lyons of Unfettered Ink. In her Story Crafting Practicum, Brigitte asked each participant to answer a prompt regarding the journey of our own stories, specifically in regards to our careers. The following is an attempt at sharing my story.

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a very strange land called Orange County, California. She had big dreams of becoming an Oscar award-winning actress, world traveler, and renowned humanitarian.
After studying and performing in the UK and Japan the girl eventually found her way to another strange land. Well, an island to be more specific. It was called Manhattan.
And the girl worked hard and did some acting on some big screens and small screens and stages, but she had to face the facts:
She was not Angelina Jolie.
This made the girl sad.
If she wasn’t an Oscar winning-world traveling-humanitarian then what was she?
Then, one crisp autumn day while running through a pile of brightly colored leaves in a big park on the island, the girl decided she wanted to write.
So she did.
She wrote her personal stories and shared them with complete strangers on the Internet. A few people even paid her to write for them.
Soon the girl decided she wanted to travel again.
So she did.
She rode in planes and trains and buses and cars. She got stamps on her passport from places in Canada and Europe and Central America and Southeast Asia. She saw some really amazing places and met some really nice people.
And then she wanted to go back to her small island and create a home and find a career until her next adventures to far away lands.
So she did.
And then the girl thought: I’ve met travelers and coaches and artists and writers and entrepreneurs and charity workers. They have stories and products and messages and services that other people would want to know about. Perhaps I should help them find their voice and share their story. I’m comfortable speaking on camera in front of groups, maybe I can help them one-on-one via Skype?
So she did.
But that didn’t feel like enough. The girl remembered how she wanted to be a movie star when she grew up. She thought: Why should movie stars be the only people in beautiful and professional films? Everyone has a story worth telling. And lots of people have websites. What if everyone had the opportunity to share their stories on camera and have mini movies on their websites for their audience to view? I should start a production company that specializes in that.
So she did.
And the girl was filled with gratitude that life was full of so many incredible opportunities. She was too busy to be sad she wasn’t Angelina Jolie.
She was happy to be herself for the first time in a long, long time.
And this was only the beginning.
The End.
